They say Seoul has three great chicken burger joints: ckbg.lab, rocka a doodle and le freak.. no idea who decided that. Either way, it’s no exaggeration to say Rocka Doodle has led the chicken burger scene here since the very early days.

Well.. I turned up late in the evening, so it wasn’t very busy.

Honestly, I came away a little disappointed. Everything else aside, the quality of the chicken just isn’t there.. I wondered whether ckbg.lab had been so good that my expectations were set too high. Anyway, that’s one place I’d been curious about ticked off the list..

It was Halloween that day, and crowds of people were out in costume. Has COVID finally ended? I thought.

But that same day, the Itaewon disaster happened. When I think about it, I was in a place with a Halloween event myself without really meaning to be, and I could easily have gone to Itaewon instead — I hate to think what would have happened then.. And in 2022 someone died after being sucked into a manhole in the middle of Gangnam.. It makes me wonder whether people should be able to die this easily. There must be any number of causes behind something like this, but the way I see it, society doesn’t seem to have changed much since Sewol. It hurts a little that the world doesn’t change even when a few people die..
