This is the Pacific. The sheer force of it is on another level. Maybe it’s the strong waves, but surfers come here a lot too.

The scenery really is gorgeous. Honestly, in places like Tokyo or Osaka it isn’t easy to find sea views this dramatic. Of course, the price of a view like this is the risk of a tsunami, but on that front the defences look reasonably solid.
