My middle-aged blood was calling for yakitori, so I headed to Toriyoshi for lunch.
A few shots I took on the way over..
Bikku Ramen, apparently..
That’s the vibe of the place, but there were quite a lot of people inside.
It’s a yoshoku restaurant called Heigoro, and apparently it’s closing soon. Which is why the line was ridiculously long..
But I don’t have time to stand in a long queue, so I’ve now permanently lost my chance to try it. Lining up at lunchtime is a bit much..
The front entrance of Toriyoshi
I went a bit late, so no line. Or so I thought – the line was inside..
Inside
You can feel the aura of a famous old shop..
Yakitori-don
It’s a taste I crave every now and then. Though.. if you get in right after they open everything is piping hot, while going a little later meant some of the toppings had already gone cold. Next time I’ll try to get there earlier.
The Shimbashi basement
Sakanatei is still exactly the same
Haru-chan Ramen
A new place, and the reviews are good. But who knows when I’ll get a chance to go..
Nikujiru-men Susumu
A piled-meat ramen specialist that started in Akihabara has opened in Shimbashi. No idea when I’ll make it to this one either..
Naze Soba ni Rayu o Ireru no ka (Why put chili oil in soba?)
A soba shop with an unusual name, and the queue is long. I’d like to try it one day, but first I need to go on a diet..
