Goraebul is a seafood specialist where the prices are on the high side but the food absolutely delivers. It is all private rooms, so it works well for a group dinner too.
The place
Honestly, from the outside you would have no idea what kind of place it is.
The tank
Looks promising.
Have a look at the menu too…
We went with the Badapunggyeong (Sea View) course this time… go up to Badabaram (Sea Breeze) and your stomach might actually burst.
The spread
Little nibbles and side dishes
Yam
Nice sense with the side dishes. Everything fresh and tasty.
Sundubu
Starting things off gently…
Ilpum Jinro
Today we are running with this one…
Konowata
This stuff is so good… the drinks start going down fast right from the start.
Assorted seafood
Great to get such a variety of seafood.
Assorted sashimi
The freshness is no joke. And they serve nothing but the good cuts…
Prawns
Sweet when you eat them raw.
The heads come deep-fried separately…
Miyeokguk
A bowl of miyeokguk arrived as the first half was winding down, and the broth was astonishingly rich. Turns out this place is a miyeokguk destination too.
Flounder
Half the fun is picking them apart.
Abalone as well…
Honestly we did not need to order the abalone separately, but well… if you are going to eat, eat properly.
Mulgomtang (snailfish soup)
The rice is good and the mulgomtang is clean and refreshing. Hmm… maybe this place is really all about the broths.
Dessert
I thought that was the end of it…
Braised anchovies
This one is unbelievably good. Perfectly balanced as a drinking snack. So we finished the plate, ordered another one, and another bottle of soju to go with it.
A meal that was perfect right down to the finish, and it would work nicely for entertaining clients too.
