Nothing much this time..
Truffle & Gorgonzola Cheese cod sticks
Just about worth eating..
Jagarico Mentai Cream bits
Well, this one is also just about worth eating..
Smoky Pretz, smoked bacon flavor
Good enough as a snack with a drink..
Iekei MAX
Getting that junky iekei flavor across seems to be a tall order for a cup noodle..
Yamitsuki Oil, Asian coriander
It is delicious drizzled over pho. I sometimes use it on a fried egg too.
Kawasaki’s soul food, Ganso New Tantanmen
This one was pretty good. It tastes like suanlatang, so it really whets your appetite. With a place like this I would love to visit the original shop, but I wonder if I will ever have a reason to go all the way to Kawasaki..
Guilt-free snacking, bite-size karaage
It is karaage made from soybeans.. it was fine the first time I ate it, but keep eating and the spices start to wear you down.
Kanda Matsuya’s tori nanban soba
Just as Koreans eat tteokguk, in Japan there is a custom of eating soba at the turn of the year. So every December I end up buying soba.. and the quality here is good.
Bagged suanlatang noodles, Chuka Zanmai Akasaka Eirin
It reproduces the taste of suanlatang well enough. Being a bagged noodle, the noodles themselves are a slight letdown though.
This is what it looks like..
Pretty much the same as the photo.
Osha-meshi
The suanlatang soup rice. For whatever reason, the moment one thing catches on here, related products come pouring out.. and this time there seemed to be a lot of suanlatang ones. Anyway, it is decent enough..
Osha-meshi
The tomato soup rice.. it is just so-so..
Nabe Cube
With one of these plus some napa cabbage and tofu, a hot pot is done just like that. The flavor is richer than you would expect.. In winter there are times when I crave a Japanese nabe, and it is handy for exactly that.
AFURI Yuzu Shio Ramen
This is another one I find myself eating now and then.
