Home Base, an izakaya in Noge

Noge is one of those areas packed with izakayas, a bit like Shimbashi, but it was only this time that I found out there is a whole cluster of them in the underground passage on the way there. Home Base is one of those, and apparently the most famous one.

This is the place.

The house specialty, apparently: beef tendon simmered in dark miso. It doesn’t taste bad, but it is 120 yen a skewer…

Yellowtail sashimi

It’s winter, so I ordered it, and it tasted fine. The pieces were just way too small.

Shark heart (samehatsu) sashimi, probably

Well, nothing special…

Somehow the prices add up, you eat standing, and the food is just okay, so there you go…

Izakayas like this one too…

There were so many places here that looked good.
