The Hyundai and eggslut in Yeouido

I heard that an enormous new space called The Hyundai had opened in Yeouido, so I rushed over.

The Han River..

The hyundai

I followed the Han River all the way to Yeouido. I need to get some exercise on the weekend too, so you could call it killing two birds with one stone..

The Han River

The Hyundai Seoul

The hyundai

It’s seriously huge..

The restaurant floor

The hyundai

There is honestly such a ridiculous amount here that even after several visits there would always be something new.

The restaurant floor

The restaurant floor

The hyundai

Plenty of dessert places, plenty of burger places.. it feels like every shop that’s famous downtown has a branch in here.

The rooftop

Trees

Trees

The hyundai

Well.. you’ll get a better sense of it if you go yourself.. it’s wide and open in a way department stores usually aren’t.

Taiwanese pineapple

The hyundai

I’d heard that you can eat Taiwanese pineapple right down to the core, so I got curious and bought one.

FRESH TABLE

The hyundai

Hand your fruit over here and they’ll cut it into portions for you. When you buy something like pineapple that leaves a mountain of waste, it’s a total lifesaver. The catch is that you have to eat it straight away.

The portioned fruit..

The hyundai

They don’t portion it perfectly, though. The mango still had the stone in it.. so it was a little annoying. Anyway.. it’s true that you really can eat the pineapple core, but it was a bit tough.. and the mango was overripe, which was a shame. It really isn’t easy to get hold of good fruit.

Richemont

The hyundai

There are a lot of big names in here.

The eggslut kitchen

The hyundai

I got to The Hyundai and kept going back and forth over what to eat, and the only thing that really appealed was Tamgwang. But the queue was long and they sold out fast. So after all that deliberating I landed on eggslut. I’d been meaning to try it at some point anyway.

A burger? A sandwich?

The hyundai

Some of them use a brioche bun.. seen as a sandwich it’s tasty, but seen as a burger it feels like something is missing. I’ve had it once, and that’s enough for me.

Richemont’s Gongju chestnut bun

The hyundai

I bought it because word was that it’s good.. the bread itself isn’t bad, but I don’t really taste much chestnut. It doesn’t quite feel like you’re eating chestnut bread, if that makes sense.. anyway, it’s not a bad thing to try once, just for the experience.
