These days I go out to good restaurants a lot less.. so I get the vague feeling that I am clearing out just about every new product the convenience stores put out.. I always did like konbini, but I never thought it would come to this..

Te-Noritama

It is a furikake, the kind of thing you sprinkle over rice to make yourself eat even more rice. Use it when the kids will not touch their rice and it works like a charm.. Marumiya is pretty much the number one name in this business, so the flavor is a given.. and the container was so cute that I bought it on impulse..

Look inside and you can see the chick-shaped furikake bits. I went looking for a way to buy just these, but there does not seem to be one.

Otona no Jagarico, mala garlic flavor

It is only mildly spicy, so it worked fine both as a snack and as something to have with a drink.

Sour dried plums with salt crystals

These are dried umeboshi, and they are seriously sour. One of them kills your appetite completely.. lately I get the sense that umeboshi is having a moment as a diet food.

Hunter’s Gourmet potato chips, black truffle

These sit right on the line between crisp and hard, with a lively crunch when you bite into them. Maybe the can is what makes the crispness last longer. I think they sell them in Korea too, and they seem to have a quiet little fan base.

Soybio soy milk yogurt

I bought it on the thought of, yogurt made out of soy milk? It might be good for your health, but the taste is just so-so. The flavor could improve as the technology gets better, though who knows how that will go..

Seven-Eleven’s frozen grapes

The quality of the frozen grapes was surprising. I had no idea they would be this sweet.. there are still konbini items I know nothing about. Dig a little further and something interesting might turn up..

Japan Pride Potato, Imakane Danshaku

These come around like clockwork every winter, and about once a year I do find myself wanting them.

Nissin Donbei limited premium, chewiest-ever noodles, kitsune udon

A premium Donbei that you have to cook for a full eight minutes.. and I cannot tell the difference in taste.. this is how I keep getting had..

TUNA CHi

Chips made from tuna meat sounded novel enough that I bought a bag, and they are salty and crisp, so they are good with a drink. The one flaw is that they cost a bit more than potato chips..

Ippudo-supervised Hakata tonkotsu ramen

There is an Ippudo Stand right in front of my place, and yet I keep eating the konbini Ippudo on a regular basis.. which makes me think that for a hikikomori, not running into people matters more than the taste..

Diplomats smoked sardines

This one was on the cheaper side, and the taste was just okay..

Saba jerky

Well now, what have we here! A curious product that saba lovers across the country would be delighted with.. the taste is no more than decent, but if you like saba it should do nicely with a drink.

Maroyaka Cheeza

It is a Cheeza with mascarpone in it.. tasty enough, but I cannot say it is better than the regular Cheeza..

It is delicious.

Yamitsuki horumon

I never imagined horumon being sold like this.. the inventiveness caught me off guard.

Grilled skate fin, uni soy sauce flavor

This one is not bad at all with a drink either.

Tokyo Senrigan-supervised rich mashimashi ramen, garlic soy sauce

It is a Jiro-style ramen, and they have reproduced it pretty well.
