Rich soup curry made with Hokkaido chicken
The contents looked exactly like the photo.. the meat falls apart, but that’s not a big deal..
Gyudon
This one was ordinary..
A high-end curry, but..
The usual problem with a retort pouch is that the contents fall apart.
The curry that gives you goosebumps
“I wanted to prove that a retort curry can go beyond the taste of a curry specialist,” it says.. and did it really? It really did. Because there is nothing in a keema curry that can fall apart.. genuinely smart thinking.
This one was much the same..
Sazae curry
The turban shell gives it a slight bitterness. There was not much sazae meat in it. It has character, but for the price, hmm..
Mapo tofu
I cooked it myself and it tasted pretty convincing. Looking it up, Korea has something similar.
Bolognese
Handy when you want to throw a pasta together quickly.
Ika curry
I assumed it would be a squid-ink curry, but the ginger was far too strong. The taste was nothing special either..
A man’s black curry..
For a Korean palate it was a little short on kick, though..
Having worked my way through a run of retort pouches, some of them are perfectly good as they are and some are not. Used well they let you put a tasty dish together with no effort, so I plan to keep trying them.
