I heard there was a place in Hapjeong that does a good makchang sundae — sundae stuffed into large intestine — so I went over. Well.. it’s an hour by bike, so I set off in a light mood.
Sigol Sundae
They call it Hapjeong, but it’s not the Hongdae side — more the Mangwon side, I’d say.. Hapjeong has really spread out.
Sundaeguk
The sundaeguk itself was pretty ordinary..
Makchang sundae
Hauling it home on the bike wrecked it.. I’ve had plenty of vegetable sundae, but sundae with bean sprouts in it was a first for me — apparently that’s the Jeolla style.. anyway, it tasted good.
Well fed, I rode a loop around the area.
Places like this are opening in Yeonnam-dong now..
A cafe you have to line up to get into..
Bread like this..
The bread actually looked pretty good..
Bread like this..
I went into Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai, right in front of it.
Nice T-shirts.
Taeng mo ban (watermelon juice)
It was hot out, so I ordered a watermelon juice. The thing is.. a paper straw is good for the environment and all.. but drinking watermelon juice through one turned out to be a bit of a puzzle..
A Netflix promo..
They do this sort of thing in Hongdae too.. A good ride, good food — a full day.
