A place called Salt House in Mangwon-dong is all over Instagram, so I went to check it out. As with most Instagram-famous spots, going alone feels a bit awkward… but hey, who do you think I am…
This is the place..
You put your name on the waiting list, take a lap around Mangwon Market, and they call you. Mangwon-dong has come a long way; this kind of thing is nice..
Menu
You could call it pricey for a sandwich, but once you taste it, it makes sense.
Beer
This one was a bit of a miss?
Jambon-beurre
First of all, the bread was so good.. I asked where it came from, and it turned out to be a place called Boulangerie Copain. The ham is made in-house, so there’s no way it could be bad, and the butter is Isigny. It would be harder to make something bad with these ingredients..
So I went straight there..
It’s nearby, so it’s easy to find.
Breads like these..
No baguettes.. but even at a glance the croissants looked like something special.
So I got one
It’s known from the TV show Saenghwal-ui Dalin (Masters of Everyday Life), so I didn’t expect much, but it’s really good. The world is wide and there’s a lot of good bread out there.
Ugly Bakery
It feels like way too many new bakeries have opened in Mangwon-dong lately. This one is famous, and a few other famous ones have popped up too.
Breads like these
I get the feeling I’d put on a lot of weight if I lived around here..
