I’m not that big a fan of kalguksu, but I heard Veteran Kalguksu serves kongguksu, so I went. You have to get your kongguksu in during the hot summer.
The table
Nothing special.
Kongguksu
Thick. It has to be this thick to be worth a special trip.
Sugar and salt
Apparently Jeonju style is to put sugar in your kongguksu… I tried it once and, hmm…
Noodles
The noodles are fine, but the soybean broth is the real work of art here. If Jinjujip is a bit nuttier, this one feels more plain. On the way out I noticed they sell it in PET bottles; if I’d known at the start of summer I would have stocked my fridge with it. Shame.
