Gazta, a cheesecake shop in Shirokane-Takanawa

There’s a place in Shirokane called Maison d’ahni that sells a killer gâteau basque, and they’ve opened a cheesecake specialty shop. Well.. the taste should be trustworthy, right?

Front entrance

Gazta

It’s pronounced Gasta, not Gazta..

This kind of cake

Gazta

They say it’s a traditional cake from the Basque region. The story behind it is pretty great.

Small size

Gazta

I couldn’t finish a big one anyway, so I bought the small ones.

Inside

Gazta

Just for reference..

Packaging

Gazta

They wrapped it up really prettily and elegantly. And the moment I took a bite.. it’s more of a familiar taste than something new, but it’s not old-fashioned or anything, it’s just delicious. I guess that’s the power of tradition and good ingredients. If you want to try a really good cheesecake, I recommend paying them a visit.
