Changsungok at Yongmun Market near Hyochang Park

Yongmun Market near Hyochang Park has three famous haejangguk (hangover soup) joints clustered together: Changsungok, Yongmun Haejangguk and Hanseongok. Not that I ever have a reason to go drinking around there, so honestly I’d never had occasion to visit, but I was curious, so I picked one and went, and that was Changsungok. It was brutally hot that day, and walking from the station to Changsungok I thought I was going to collapse…

The entrance

Changsungok

Well… it does look pretty imposing.

The painting at the entrance…

Changsungok

It has a certain atmosphere.

Haejangguk

Changsungok

It’s the style loaded with seonji (curdled ox blood). If you don’t mind seonji, it’s a gukbap you’ll happily eat. I enjoyed every spoonful.
