There’s a cheap unagi place in Shinbashi. It’s actually a chain with branches beyond Shinbashi, and all of the locations have a decent reputation.
Entrance
Pretty run-down looking.
Salad
Unadon
The eel itself isn’t spectacular, but once it’s glazed with sauce and grilled over charcoal it turns into that junk-food kind of addictive flavor. The rice is good too, of course… every now and then you just crave this.
Suimono (clear soup)
It was tasty. If you want a proper portion the price climbs to around 1,000 yen, but it’s worth it, and considering a real unadon runs about 3,000 yen, this is a great alternative.
