I have been around Shinbashi a lot lately, and I spotted a place that looked decent regardless of any gourmet ratings. The concept appealed to me, so I picked a day and paid a visit.
Roughly like this..
The concept is cheap tempura made with ingredients from the San’in region, that is, the Tottori and Shimane area. As you know, even ingredients that have lost a bit of freshness taste just as good once they are deep-fried.
First, rice and miso soup
The menu inside
Having a drink in the evening with tempura as a snack looks like a good idea too. I am not a big fan of eating standing up, but sitting down eats up a lot of time, so sometimes standing is actually the better option. Such is the life of a salaryman.
The jo-tendon is 800 yen and comes with 8 pieces.
The other half
Both the portion and the quality are satisfying, but this is Shinbashi, where a few hundred yen more gets you something even tastier, so I do not think I will be going all that often.
