Since I work near Hamamatsucho, I end up eating at a lot of old-guy lunch spots. Here’s a round-up.
Tendon
The tendon at Kaneko Hannosuke is great value. This one wasn’t in Hamamatsucho, though; I had it in Odaiba. Once you’ve had this, I don’t think there’s any need to go out of your way to eat tendon at some tourist spot.
Steak lunch at Bistro Gaburi
They bring out an absolutely enormous piece of beef. Good for when you feel like you need a proper feed once in a while.
Chicken nanban at Zawameki
This place is also famous for its big portions, and it’s quiet, so it’s a good spot when you have to meet someone for work.
Chicken curry
This one’s in Omotesando. Very high quality.
Yakitori-don
The chicken itself is nothing special quality-wise, but there’s plenty of it and it’s charcoal-grilled, so it has a nice smoky flavour. And the nikomi (simmered offal) is something special.
Grilled mackerel at Echigoya
Every now and then you have to top up on omega-3.
Grilled beef lunch at Motsufuku
It’s decent enough.
A thousand-yen French lunch
The food at Dodine is good.
Teishoku set meal at Yoshizane
It’s a restaurant that feels like a cat cafe.
Hamamatsucho has all kinds of places to eat.
