Foundry is a shop famous for making desserts with high-quality fruit. I first came across it at the Sogo department store in Yokohama, and now there’s finally a branch in Tokyo too.

It’s a little pricey for a strawberry shortcake, but it’s delicious, so I don’t mind. The flavor isn’t especially rich, so I’d call it more of a family cake than a gourmet one.

I was in the neighborhood, so I took a photo. Around this time of year a huge wave of Easter chocolates showed up, and it feels like Easter has now successfully taken root in Japan too. That’s a consumer superpower for you.
