Hamamatsucho Lunches

Here’s a round-up of what I ate for lunch earlier this year.

Chicken nanban teishoku at Zawameki

Big portions and decent food, so I liked it. Another plus is that if you go with two or more people you get a private room. On your own it’s the counter, though..

Lunch set at Aux Délices de Dodine

This place is famous for its 1,000-yen lunch, and the line at lunchtime is enormous. It’s so popular that they recently opened two more branches.

Maguro-don at Izakaya New Asakusa

It’s popular for how much you get for the price, but it’s a bit grubby. I went a few times, but I don’t go these days.

Charcoal-grilled Daisen chicken teishoku at Echigoya

Big portions and excellent food. The line here is no joke either.

Rare on the inside

It’s moist and tastes amazing, but apparently this dish isn’t on the menu from April to October.

This one isn’t in Hamamatsucho; it’s a chicken place at Telecom Center in Odaiba.

Odaiba never had anywhere decent to eat, but suddenly a lot of decent places have sprung up. Looking forward to Comiket.. Not sure I’ll be able to go, though..

Aji fry (breaded horse mackerel)

hamamatsucho lunch

I ordered this at a little tonkatsu shop in Hamamatsucho called Hokuto. The portion is so-so, but it’s decent enough. The problem is that the main event, the tonkatsu, isn’t great, so I never ended up going back..

Gindaco

Gindaco branches are popping up all over the place, and they don’t just sell takoyaki: they also do highballs, snacks and simple meals. Chain or not, it tasted pretty good.

Lunch at the Italian restaurant Bava

This place is fairly well known too. You get a hefty serving of pork.

Hamamatsucho has a long history and is packed with offices, so the number of good restaurants per square metre is remarkable. Even if I only ate in this neighbourhood, I doubt I’d get bored for a while.
