Right below Tokyo Tower is Shiba Park, and in the middle of it sit The Prince Park Tower Tokyo and Le Pain Quotidien. Le Pain Quotidien is a bakery brand with over a hundred branches worldwide, they say. There are two in Japan, and one of them is this Shiba Park one. Talk about a well-chosen location. Loved all over the world as it is, the level here is very high.
The sign
It’s a tourist spot, so it gets crowded.
Bakery corner
Mainly meal breads plus desserts. Not many snack-type pastries.
Inside
The baking room is pretty big.
Sweets
There’s a good variety of sweets.
Entrance
Right in the middle of the park, so the atmosphere is lovely. You can eat outside too.
Five grain bread
This might be my favorite bread here.
Lunch quiche
Not really my kind of lunch, but it tastes fine.
Avocado sandwich
It’s decent, but the carb ratio is high, which is tough on a middle-aged guy like me.
Painting on the ceiling
You can see Tokyo Tower from the dining room windows, and the interior is gorgeous too. Maybe that’s why so many people come.
Bacon epi
This one’s a meal substitute..
They make a really good cookie too.
Chia seed pudding
So good it took me by surprise. Who knew chia seeds, healthy as they are, could taste this good.
Time sale
I’ve been to this place quite a few times, but this was my first time catching a time sale. They do it irregularly, and five pieces for 1,080 yen is practically half price. So I grabbed a bunch of this and that, and sure enough, whatever you buy, the quality is guaranteed. I especially liked the dark cherry Danish, so I’ll have to buy it again next time.
