I heard a much-talked-about French restaurant had opened in Kyoto, so I went to check it out.
The entrance
They’ve converted an old, traditional-looking house.
The menu
Decent value for money.
Nibbles
The service and the interior were lovely too.
Amuse-bouche
Butter
Bread
Foie gras
Scallop
Pan-seared sea bass
Roast veal
Shichimi ice cream
Pomegranate
Crab apple
Tea
Petits fours
It’s been a while since this meal so my memory is hazy, but I do remember the vegetables served with the veal being seriously good. The rest was so-so… in Japan, a meal at this level is just par for the course.
