Arashiyama, Kyoto

When it comes to autumn leaves in Kyoto, it has to be Arashiyama. It’s such a famous spot that you really have to get in and out before the crowds arrive. We took a taxi and were in Arashiyama by 8 a.m.; if you have enough people to split the fare, taxis really are the best way to get around Kyoto. Trains and buses get stuck in traffic and eat up far too much time, which is a real shame on a short trip.
