I’d been drinking until late the night before, so I kept lunch light with some sushi.
Probably toro maki
Aji (horse mackerel)
So incredibly fresh…
Probably sanma (Pacific saury)
Fish in season just can’t taste bad. And it’s so cheap, too.
Kai (clam)
Saba (mackerel)
Salmon
Hotate (scallop)
Kohada (gizzard shad)
Shime saba (vinegar-cured mackerel)
Ebi (shrimp)
Tako (octopus)
Ika shoyuzuke (soy-marinated squid)
We stuffed ourselves like this and I think it came to about 2,000 yen a head. Truly unbelievable value for money.
Since I was in Yokohama anyway, I also picked up a dessert from Marlowe.
The way to eat it is to flip the cup over onto a plate, and it plates up just like it would at a cafe. I’d love to visit the main shop too, but it’s hard to get to without a car.
It can double as a measuring cup, apparently…
I really ought to have some bourbon out of this…
