A friend of mine came over from Korea for a visit, and since he’s an elite member of the Hilton hotel chain, I got to tag along into the lounge.

The view from the lounge

The view is pretty nice. The rooms themselves are fairly ordinary, but the lounge service was really good. Someone like me who actually lives here has no reason to use hotels, but if you stay at hotels often, the membership seems well worth it.

Snacks

Depending on the time of day, they bring out light refreshments, drinks, nibbles and so on. All free of charge, of course. For a busy businessperson constantly on the move, this kind of service must be very welcome. Hunting for a restaurant in an unfamiliar city is a real hassle, after all.

They may be free, but the quality of the desserts is not bad at all. You can tell they put quite a bit of thought into the lounge space. I suppose this is where Hilton’s reputation comes from.

The view

I’d always thought Hilton was not cheap, but if you can make good use of services like this, it seems like you get quite a lot out of it. After all, if you have to hold business meetings or have tea somewhere, that costs a fair amount too, so it’s actually easier to just use the lounge like this. On top of that, if you rack up points on business trips, you can stay at the luxury hotels in the Hilton family.. It turned out to be a hotel with plenty of perks that someone like me, who never goes on business trips, would never know about.
