I spent the whole month of August at Guro Digital Complex. Getting to work in all sorts of places is probably one of the perks of my job. That is not to say Guro Digital Complex is a nice place, though. The layout of the area is a bit awkward. The roads are on the narrow side and the offices are packed so tightly together that there are not many restaurants. There are lots of buffet-style building cafeterias at around 4,000 won, and the food is not bad either. August in particular was so hot that I could not bring myself to leave the building even at midday, so I ended up using them even more often.

Whopper with All Extra

For some reason they kept running a 3,000-won Whopper promotion. Add the 400-won All Extra and it is quite a decent meal, and the price is barely different from the cafeteria. After eating cafeteria food every single day, a Whopper feels like a small taste of the good life. The line is long, so you have to hurry over before the lunch rush..

Läderach

Believe it or not, there is a Läderach at Guro Digital Complex.. I had a quick look and the prices had gone up a bit more. How long is this inflation going to keep going..

Near Guro Digital Complex Station there are quite a few all-you-can-eat samgyeopsal places. The system is that with a budget of about 15,000 won per person, drinks included, you can eat until you burst. Sure, if they use frozen imported pork the cost is probably around 1,000 won, so they still make money selling it that way, but the point is that young people can eat their fill. There are not many places in Seoul under 20,000 won that work this well for a company dinner.

Very sweet.. if you are eating here, sticking to the samgyeopsal is the closest you get to a good deal..

After a month I have a rough idea of what life at Guro Digital Complex is like. Fine dining is hard to come by, but when you want something good you can head over to Daerim (and Hongdae is not that far either), and since prices are on the low side, you save a lot on fixed costs, which is a plus. Still, if I ever ran my own company, I would want an office in Hongdae or Jongno..
