Oddly enough, getting to the airport from Kobe takes about the same time as getting there from Osaka. From downtown Kobe you can hop straight onto the expressway that runs to the airport, whereas from downtown Osaka it takes forever just to reach the bayside road. I think we drove for about an hour before reaching the airport.
I snapped these carelessly from inside the car, so the photos all came out blurry.
Mount Rokko
I once climbed to the summit. Back then I carried my SLR around religiously; looking back now, it is hard to believe there was ever such a time.
City scenery
This was about halfway between Kobe and Osaka. The coastal scenery is really beautiful.
A huge bridge comes into view too.
A dome, too
Driving along the road.
Perhaps because it is a toll road, traffic was not that bad.
Downtown Osaka
Apartment blocks line the waterfront.
A golf course and so on
Driving and driving
Downtown Osaka
Driving some more
And still more
Entering the airport.
A very long bridge
We arrived safely at the airport.
Good eats inside Kansai Airport
The inside had been completely redone. Just like at other airports, famous restaurants from the city had moved in. That is how you keep tourists happy.
Shumai from 551 Horai
Being able to eat this place’s shumai at the airport, what a wonderful world we live in.
Beer and kimchi gyudon at Sukiya
The beer cup is a bit makeshift, but it tastes good. It is cheap too. I suppose this is part of the airport service as well.
Chocolate bought at the duty-free shop
At Kansai Airport only one shop sold it. I swept up quite a few. But since I do not go to get-togethers much these days, I rarely have a use for them.
Sunset at Kansai Airport
The long trip is over.
