I had originally planned to spend a long time in Kyoto, but I used up too much energy at Kiyomizu-dera, so I decided to just head straight on to Osaka. When you think of Osaka’s signature sightseeing spot, it has to be Osaka Castle. It is a place where you can feel the power of Hideyoshi at the height of his glory.

The plaza

The castle grounds are quite large, so you need to read the map carefully to make it to the main keep.

Leaning trees

They were kind of curious. On one side of the castle grounds a reggae event was going on.

The main keep

Compared to Gifu, it is a world of difference. The sheer scale is huge, so if you have the time it is well worth a visit at least once.
