There’s a sundae-guk place in Gangnam I’ve loved since my first years as a working adult. It’s Namseoul Abai Sundae, and you could call it the origin of my sundae life. Not many places in Gangnam do sundae this well, and within walking distance of Gangnam Station I’d say this is the only one. If you go as far as Bangbang Sageori there’s Namsunnam Sundae-guk, but their sundae isn’t that great..

I wouldn’t call it generous, but it’s solid. The sundae in particular is absolutely delicious. The only place better is probably Sansu Gapsan..

It got a bit harder to find after the renovation and move, but they have their regulars, so quite a few people were there. Fortunately or not, this place hasn’t been on shows like 3 Great Kings, so you can eat in peace.

If you order the assorted plate, the sundae-guk really is just the soup, which is a bit different from north of the river. It’s filling enough as it is, so it doesn’t matter..

It’s my soul food, but the problem is I rarely have a reason to go to Gangnam Station.. As I get older, places off my usual routes get harder to visit.
