Yakitori Gatten, Asakusa

Gatten, which has branches all over Asakusa, is a neighborhood yakitori joint. I would not exactly call it a top spot, but you can eat and drink happily for about 2,000 yen a head, so it holds its own.

Otoshi

gatten

Simple greens in place of a salad.

Tan (tongue)

gatten

Good quality for the price.

Negima

gatten

The grilled leek is seriously good.

Hatsu (heart)?

gatten

Well.. not at the level of a famous place, but perfectly decent.

Reba (liver)

gatten

Tebasaki (chicken wings)

gatten

Negima again

gatten

When you visit as a tourist, you tend to go after places that are pricey but reliably delicious, but for someone like me who has lived in this neighborhood for a long time, there are times you end up at good-value places like this too. Food like this is fine once in a while.
