Maruichi Bagel, Shirokane-Takanawa

Before every trip to Japan I always check the rankings of newly opened bakeries, dessert shops, ramen shops and so on. This time a new bakery near Shirokane seemed to be popular, so I made time to drop by. The work I had scheduled early in the morning wrapped up neatly, so I could wander around with a light heart.

It seems to have opened only recently, and the atmosphere was really modern. The shop itself is not big, but it looked hugely popular with the people in the neighbourhood.

I hear a shop with a similar concept has opened in Korea recently too. I am thinking of going once I have the time.

They sell bread like this too..

The bagel I bought

Well, the bagel sandwich is tasty, but it is not what you would call upscale. Instead, the strengths are the friendly service, the stylish interior and the wide choice of flavours. In a way it felt like they were selling a culture. Is this what they call New York style?

A Cote Patisserie

It is a bit far to call it nearby, but I stopped by A Cote Patisserie as well. It is a hassle to get to, but there is no other place like it, so I have to visit regularly.
