In May 2015 I had work in Tokyo, so I went over a weekend. It was a short trip and I was wandering around on my own, so I did not make it to any great restaurants.
tri-R Shibatani is my favourite bakery and cafe. Their bread is a bit special. The curry bread in particular is truly the best.

I was lucky enough to get one fresh out of the fryer.
Today’s haul
The canele is really good too.
Then I headed towards Asakusa Station, and found that 23 Banchi Cafe, the place run directly by Asahi, had been renamed Sumidagawa Bar. The menu is a bit different and the interior has changed too. I guess a bar is more popular than a cafe in Tokyo these days.
A glass of local beer
Bacon to go with the beer
Calling it Spanish food is a bit of a stretch, but it is decent. The beer is good too. A nice place to stop by for a drink when you are passing through.
