Lunch at Bistro Polpo, Bangbae-dong

For personal reasons I left this blog untouched for almost a year, and now I am picking it back up. As you get older, there just are not enough hours in the day. The one silver lining, if you can call it that, is that I also had less time to go out eating, so the backlog of posts is not as big as you might think.

Polpo in Bangbae-dong is a place where the owner never compromises on taste, so you can count on a satisfying meal whenever you go. This time I visited at lunchtime for a business gathering, and as always, the food was excellent. For the record, these days they only serve lunch on Sundays.

Apple juice

polpo

It was a business meeting, so alcohol felt a bit inappropriate and I had juice instead.

Bagna cauda

polpo

The usual order.

Grilled wild boar, probably

polpo

Getting to taste hard-to-find seasonal ingredients is what makes Polpo special.

Abalone pasta

polpo

The abalone still had that lovely chewy bite.

Clam pasta

polpo

I forget the exact name, but it was loaded with clams, chewy and refreshingly clean-tasting. It went well with the tomato sauce too.

I really should go more often, and it is a shame I could not. Last year I simply had no time, so this year I will have to make time on purpose.
