After moving to Daerim I was wandering around the neighbourhood and found an interesting place. It is a chocolate specialty cafe, Jooboon Chocolate. Who would have thought there was a place like this near Daerim..
The front entrance
It sits in the shopping arcade of an apartment complex. Surprisingly, quite a few people actually use it.
The menu and opening hours
They open a bit late, but in return they stay open late. Interestingly, they also do sandwiches made with ciabatta from Owol-ui Jong. The prices are much friendlier than I expected, too.
The chocolates
The prices are really friendly. Of course, the flavour falls a bit short of the famous big-name chocolate shops.
The day’s picks
Valentine’s Day was around this time, so I bought a few and tried them. For this neighbourhood the level is really impressive. To get chocolate that tastes better than this, you would have to pay about three times as much.

I got it as a set with a drink and took it away, which made it a bit cheaper.
The filling
The herb chicken was decent and the bread is delicious. Owol-ui Jong never disappoints! With a place this good near home I figured I would end up going often whenever cooking felt like a chore, but in reality on weekend mornings I get up and eat around 10 or 11, which does not fit their opening hours, so I have not been going as often as I thought. For someone like me who never skips any of the three meals, there was simply no way to hold out until 1pm.
