My schedule was so packed this time that I hadn’t planned on going to Échiré at all, but a certain someone asked me to, so off I went.

I got there a bit early.

Even on a weekday the line was long. As popular as ever.

Chausson aux pommes

I was heading back loaded down with souvenirs and all sorts of other things, and while looking for a pastry to eat as a quick stand-in for a meal, I picked the chausson aux pommes. Rather than a plain croissant or pain au chocolat, a chausson aux pommes with its tartness and sweetness is more my thing. Lee Boulanger’s chausson aux pommes was perfectly good too, but Échiré really is the best.
