I got on the bus to head for the North Shore, where there is garlic shrimp and a park that sea turtles come to. On the way they dropped us off at the Dole pineapple farm, Dole Plantation. I got off for a bit and had a look around.

It is roughly this kind of place..

The inside is huge, and they sell all sorts of Dole souvenirs. It felt like a typical stopover on a package tour.

The inner garden costs extra. I was not really interested, so I just looked around the outside for a bit and left it at that.

They grow cacao here too..

These were rather mysterious. The colors were really beautiful.

The other side is the west coast, so this is probably where Lost was filmed..

There was not much to do at Dole Plantation, so I headed straight on to the North Shore.

I was surprised to hear that it takes a year and six months for a pineapple to ripen.

Besides pineapples, the coffee from this region is famous as premium coffee too. And they grow chocolate as well.
