After an eight-hour flight, I arrived in Hawaii. By the time I got out of the airport it was around 11 o’clock, Hawaii time.
The view at the airport
The weather is just gorgeous. The stretch between landing at the airport and getting into town was a bit tedious, though. We also had to sit through a briefing on the basics of getting by in Hawaii. That tedious part lasts about two hours, but I guess you have to be well prepared to enjoy the trip. Next time it might be better to rent a car at the airport and head straight to the hotel.

Check-in was at 4 pm, so in the meantime we stopped by Ala Moana Center. By the time we got back, the sun was already about to set.

Sadly it wasn’t a room with a direct view of the sunset, but we could see the city and the ocean at the same time.

Lots of shops were open until late at night. Since we were tired on the first day, we decided to save the exploring for later and went back.
ABC STORE!
These are the convenience stores you find all over Hawaii. They’re packed with all kinds of food and groceries, and the ABC Store next to the Sheraton hotel in particular was huge.
The day’s haul
The tropical fruit was delicious, and the sandwiches were substantial too. The Spam musubi was just so-so. The St. Bernardus beer was so good it went beyond what I thought bottled beer could be. I hear Homeplus sells it too, so I’ll have to pick some up when I get back to Korea.
