As some of you probably know, the manga Initial D is set on Mt. Haruna in Gunma. In the manga it appears under the name Mt. Akina. It is such a famous spot that I had always wanted to visit at least once, and it turned out to be not that far from Ikaho Onsen. It was a quicker trip than I expected.

The quiet lakeshore
Not many people come here in winter. I guess it is because the weather has already turned chilly. And Initial D had already reached its final volume by then, too.
There is even a condo tower way off in the distance.
I wondered who would live in a place like that.
The curves on the mountain roads around here are really something. Lots of hairpin bends, and the road was covered in skid marks everywhere. I had a hard enough time on the downhill, and going flat out on this road seems like a suicide mission no matter how I think about it. Having been once, I do not think I need to go a second time.
