Azumabashi Yabusoba, one of the famous soba places in Asakusa, is great value for money and I like the atmosphere too, so I end up here quite often.
Tempura soba (ten-seiro)
I always order this one, and it never disappoints. The same dish at other famous soba places runs close to 3,000 yen, but here it is about half that, so I can only be grateful.
Tamagoyaki
Slightly sweet. The classic snack to go with drinks at a soba place.
Tonkatsu simmered in egg
A bit on the sweet side. A good dish to go with beer. Lately I have been turning more and more into a middle-aged guy, and I find myself wanting something more filling than just noodles, and this seems like a dish made for exactly that kind of guy.
Wasabi-zuke
This one went well with the drinks too.
Consistently delivering the same reliable taste is what makes a place a famous one, I guess. In that sense this place fully deserves to be called one of the shops that represent Asakusa. Whenever I feel like soba, I think this is the place that will come to mind.
