I heard that an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria that stays open late had opened near Ebisu Station, so I dropped by late one weekday evening. It is close to the station, but the way Ebisu Station is laid out, you have to walk a bit after getting off. The sign is sleek and the interior is spacious, so it felt a bit more like a franchise than a legendary pizzeria, but even so, that does not change the fact that this place has 130 years of history. It has also been picked as the best pizzeria in the world.

The cheese here is definitely delicious. The bake was nicely done too. But there was so little basil that it left me wanting more. Next time I plan to ask them to pile on a whole lot more basil, though I am not sure they will do it. The original shop in Italy seems to be about the same.. hmm.. I do not know whether my taste is just unusual or whether this is how it is meant to be eaten.

The cheese was freshness itself. It seems they make it in-house, and I figured this cheese is probably what the place owes its reputation to.

Since you can enjoy excellent pizza even late at night, it is a place worth visiting if you are around Ebisu. The pizza itself tastes truly excellent, so the reputation makes sense. I would like to go once more to check whether they can top it with extra basil, but I do not know when I will find the time.
