I went to Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai, which is already so famous that even getting a reservation has become hard. The place was packed, and I think we waited about 30 minutes.

Tod man kung

Fried cakes of shrimp and pork, and they are seriously good. Since I came with fellow members of our gourmet club, I only got to sample the very essence of them.

Beer

On a hot day like this, you cannot not have a beer.

Som tam and gai yang

The chicken seemed a little different from what I had before, but it tasted fine.

Pak boong fai daeng

You cannot live on meat alone, so some greens were in order.

Curry

We ordered a Thai curry too, but I forget its name.

It had a nice smoky wok flavor.

Now that our stomachs were full, we ordered one light snack and chatted about this and that.

Patbingsu at imi

We moved on to imi and ordered our first patbingsu of the year. Probably the last one too.. Anyway, it is not very sweet, the kind of taste that splits opinion, but this time I really enjoyed it. I am not sure whether my taste has changed or the patbingsu has. It may just be that everything tasted good because it had been a while..

For round three we wanted to go to a bar, but on a weekend in Hongdae there is hardly a bar with a free seat. Factory has always been hugely popular, and a newly opened place called Distill was packed too. So the place we ended up at was The Lion’s Den. Just a slightly higher price range, and the crowd and the headcount drop off sharply. Even on a weekend there were few customers, it was not noisy at all, and the atmosphere was great. How convenient is that.. So we got to enjoy our cocktails at a leisurely pace.

Snacks

Too dark to come out well..

Vesper martini

For cocktails, Factory might be a little better. It may just be that the flavors are aiming at different things. Anyway, it was a fun get-together that ran late into the night.
