As the weather gets hotter, I start craving something spicy. So I used my lunch break to go to Chinkatei for their shirunashi tantanmen (soupless dan dan noodles).

Even though this place is technically a chain, the overall standard is high. Whether that is just this branch or the other ones too, I have no idea.

The menu

I always order the tantanmen, so I never noticed how big the menu actually is. I have heard the ramen (paitan) side is nothing special, but even so, there are quite a few a la carte dishes.

Adding the egg makes it a bit milder.

Jumbo gyoza

Apparently this is the house specialty, but it was just okay.

Hiyashi chuka

Since it is summer I tried the hiyashi chuka too, but that one was pretty ordinary. Still, it has that seasonal feel, so you have to eat it once in a while.
