On a bright weekend I headed to Toshimaen to see Iron Man 3. Not only is there a 3D IMAX theater, there was also a place I wanted to stop by on the way. Parlor Ekoda, a bakery in Ekoda, is one of the top bakeries in Tokyo. The owner apparently trained at Zopf, the famous bakery in Matsudo. It was well worth the detour.

Orange juice

For an elegant weekend lunch I ordered a sandwich and picked orange juice as my drink. It calls itself a cafe, but it is a really small place, and the kitchen is fairly big in comparison. Somehow that made me trust it.

Sesame bread and onion sandwich

The bread, baked with a crisp crust, is really delicious, and the spring onion goes well with it too. A moving taste.

Ciabatta and chicken sandwich

The chicken was ordinary, but the quality of the bread was astonishing. I doubt there are many places in Tokyo that do bread this well.

Cafe latte

The coffee is said to be decent too.

This is roughly the kind of bread they sell.

Honestly, every loaf looked delicious. But I could not buy them all, so I picked up just a few more and took them home.

Cannoli

It is a Sicilian dessert that appeared in The Godfather, and it had been on TV these past few days, which made me curious, so I bought one to try. The generous cheese filling and the orange liqueur flavor were pretty good.

Machi no Parlor

This is the sister shop of Parlor Ekoda. It is nearby. They sell the same kinds of bread, but the cafe is a bit bigger and neater. It would have been fine to eat here too.
