Kameido Horumon had left such an impression on me that one weekend I set aside some time to walk around Kameido.
Kameido Gyoza
Not open yet. This is another popular place with a long line, but I was short on time that day, so I just got takeout and went home.
Julian Bakery
A stylish bakery that does not fit this neighborhood at all. Apparently it came over from Hawaii. I went in and all the bread looked delicious, but I had a destination in mind that day, so I skipped it.
A quiet path
There is a walking path behind Sun Street. That day I bought an air purifier at the Yamada Denki in Sun Street to deal with my hay fever. I have shopped for appliances in a lot of places, but Yamada seems to be the undisputed king. Places like Yodobashi and Bic Camera simply do not stock cheap, usable appliances at all. It is also appealing that they match the lowest online prices. Next time I need to buy something, I will probably end up at Yamada Denki again.
Meigara Gyuniku no Sato
I heard their sandwiches are famous, so I came to buy some.
Katsu sando
They said there had been more originally, but since it was past lunchtime, a lot had already sold.
Had it for lunch at home..
It was a lot more disappointing than I expected. The meat was so dry it was a struggle to eat. The portion is big for the price, but I would not call it a Kameido specialty.
Kameido Gyoza
The gyoza I had for dinner. Maybe because the wrappers are incredibly thin, they stay true to the essence of gyoza. They cost more than Hamamatsu gyoza, but I really liked them. This time I cooked them at home, but eating at Kameido Gyoza itself would probably be nice too. I will have to give it a try next time.
Yebisu beer
I tried Yebisu’s limited-edition Joel Robuchon beer, and apart from the strong hop aroma it is just so-so. Then again, you should not expect too much from a canned beer. In my experience, when it comes to canned or bottled beer, Asahi is probably the best.
