As work has gotten busier, I find myself going somewhere close rather than far, and choosing places I can walk into without any planning over the buzzed-about restaurants. I suppose this is what becoming a middle-aged guy means. Ramen-tei in Asakusa is right in the middle of the tourist area. Its Tabelog score is decent, and I was curious how it actually tastes.
The exterior
It is cramped inside, but there is seating outdoors, and a good share of the people eating ramen were Westerners. Looking at the menu, the prices were incredibly cheap, which may be why it is so popular.
Shumai
Pretty good for the price. While I was eating my ramen, quite a few people came in just to get shumai to go, and I could see why.
Ramen
Tokyo-style shoyu ramen. Not the very best, but the chashu, the broth, the noodles, nothing to fault at all. A place selling ramen this good for 500 yen must be nearly nonexistent these days. It seems like a good spot for a casual meal around Asakusa. No need to go out of your way for it, though.
