There is a nice little lunch spot near the office, so I drop in for lunch pretty often. It is a place called Arie, tucked away in a back alley with a cafe-like atmosphere. It is a neighborhood eatery, so there is hardly any information about it on Tabelog either.
Fried shrimp
The portions are not big, but they use good-quality ingredients and keep the prices low. The cooking is good too. The fried dishes were done properly.
Grilled onigiri
Every now and then they throw in a small grilled onigiri on the house.
Green tea and pickles
Clean and simple.
Stir-fried beef and celery
An ordinary dish, but you can taste the home-cooked touch.
Aji fry
Horse mackerel coated in panko and fried. It was pretty good.
Pan-fried mackerel
Rather than baking it in the oven, they usually serve it pan-fried. The fish was very fresh, so it tasted good too.
Stir-fried oysters
At the tail end of winter I had the spicy stir-fried oysters, and they were cooked just right, still juicy inside.
The small portions are the one drawback, but this is a place where you can eat carefully made food. The rice is delicious, which is probably why I keep going back. It is not some amazing must-visit restaurant, but as a concept it is just right for a light lunch.
