I was wondering where to go for my weekend gourmet outing and decided on a soba place near home. It is a handmade soba shop called Tsune, and somehow it looked like it had some serious skill behind it.
The setup for the oyster soba
It is winter, so oyster soba it had to be
Oyster soba
With the oysters in it the soba had a clean, refreshing broth, a flavor that suits winter perfectly. You can choose the noodle type and I went with thick noodles, which were delicious at first but got a bit heavy toward the end. I should have ordered the thin ones.
The noodles for the kakiage soba
The quality of the handmade noodles is quite good. Who knew there was a soba place this good right in front of my house..
Kakiage
The tempura is pretty well done too. It may not be a top-tier famous shop, but it is satisfying enough. They stay open late in the evening for a soba place, so it is also a nice spot for a drink. Now I can enjoy good soba without going all the way to Taimeian. Not sure whether to be happy about that or not..
Sobayu
You have to finish by drinking sobayu, the soba cooking water, as a sort of soba tea. I have no idea how much longer it will take to finish exploring all the good eats in Asakusa.
