The last time I visited Disneyland I remember there being really nothing worth eating, so I did not expect much from DisneySea either, but this time I managed to find some decent restaurants. They are called Yucatan Base Camp Grill and Miguel’s El Dorado Cantina.
Smoked pork
I went to Yucatan Base Camp, a barbecue restaurant, for lunch, and it was seriously crowded. I stood in line for quite a while. The grilled pork and chicken dishes like the one in the photo are the main menu here, and they tasted better than they looked.
The set looks roughly like this.
It is a bit American in style, but it was decent enough. Since it sits further back than the other restaurants I figured it would be empty, but it was packed -_- Apart from the hassle, it was a pretty good meal for Disney.
Cheesecake comes for dessert too.
Do not expect too much from the taste.
Miguel’s El Dorado Cantina
I came here in the evening. This place is also tucked away in a corner, and maybe because it is Mexican food, the line was not that long. Disney food is American at heart, so I figured they would be good at Mexican too, and this was the place I was looking forward to most. Another reason was that I had been reading Born to Run lately and was craving Mexican-style tortillas.
Tortilla hot sandwich
I was shocked at how high-quality the tortilla was. They make the outer dough right in the shop, and the fresh ingredients and the warm, spicy sauce really got my appetite going. This is good enough to call a proper great restaurant.
Shrimp tacos
It was decent, but the tortilla was so good that it suffered by comparison. I have a feeling I will be going to DisneySea regularly for some reason, so next time I should mainly stick to this place.
