We had a big French lunch, so we decided to keep dinner light and headed to Grill Sakura, a western-style diner in Asakusa. It is a neighbourhood place and the prices are a notch above average, yet the seats filled up faster than I expected. Good thing we got there early.
Bite-sized tonkatsu
The pieces are small, so I worried about whether they would be any good, but the juiciness is absolutely ridiculous. A level well above most dedicated tonkatsu places. With a beer alongside it would be heavenly.
Crab cream croquette
I ordered one for a friend who says he has never had a good croquette. From the outside it looks pretty ordinary.
The inside
The thick cream just melts away. The calories worry me a little, but it really is a delicious dish.
The Skytree
We ate so well at lunch that we could not order much for dinner. After the meal we strolled around Asakusa, and there was the Tokyo Skytree. What a lovely neighbourhood.
