This July I ended up wandering all over the city. I had some business in Kinshicho around lunchtime, so while I was there I stopped by a local favorite. As some of you may know, Kinshicho has plenty of Chinese and Thai restaurants, and quite a few of them have a reputation for being among the best in Tokyo.

There’s an open terrace as well, and the mood is bright. They were even selling mangoes out front.
C lunch, the curry set
Red curry rice with chicken, a stir-fried pork salad, and tom yum bee hoon with shrimp. Maybe because the flavors are tuned to Japanese tastes, everything is mild, but that suits me just right. The tom yum bee hoon in particular, with all that savory depth in the broth, was delicious.
B lunch, the ramen set
Tom yum bee hoon with shrimp, a curry-style chicken stir-fry, and Thai-style deep-fried garlic pork. Both the curry and the tom yum bee hoon are arranged for Japanese tastes, so anyone after seriously spicy food might find them a little lacking, but they suited my palate well.
Coffee for dessert
With coffee included on top of all that, it’s no wonder the place is popular with women. The coffee is supposed to be pretty good, too.
As an exotic restaurant that’s easy to drop into, Keawjai is a solid pick. There are times in life when you suddenly crave Thai food, and knowing a place like this seems like it would come in handy.
