I was about to head home, but someone brought up the rule that drinks come first and noodles after, so we wandered all over Hongdae looking for a ramen place that was still open. Every one of them closes before 11, though. In Apgujeong there would be Ippudo for a moment like this, but Hongdae doesn’t really have an alternative. So the place we ended up at was Jangmonim Myeolchi Guksu, “Mother-in-Law’s Anchovy Noodles.”
The sign
Right in the middle of Hongdae, and yet the prices were really cheap.
Anchovy noodles
The broth isn’t bad. Considering what it takes to stay competitive in Hongdae while staying open late into the night, it would be hard to expect more than this.
The noodles
Slightly overcooked. Either way, it did a decent job of settling my stomach after all the drinking. And with that, the long barbecue schedule that started in the morning came to an end. Many thanks to everyone who put it together. I also met Mr. Jo Pal-bong that day, who said he is a fan of my unpopular blog, and got all sorts of advice from him, which left me feeling sorry about how loosely I have been running this blog. Once I have posted the rest of my backlog, I will go back to real-time update mode.
